Laura and Bill came all the way from America to have their wedding at Claridegs just a few weeks ago, and what a great wedding it was. I am lucky that i get to shoot weddings all over the world in some of the best wedding venues, but there is something about Claridges and London that i love. Just like the venue and the city of London, Laura is all about details and style. If you knew her, you would know that she loves fashion and elegance, so having your wedding at Claridges was the perfect choice for the perfect couple. few weeks before the wedding, Laura and i speak on Skype to discuss the plans and she informed me that the BBC will be filming parts of her wedding. The BBC are creating a documentary all about Claridges. and they wanted to include their wedding at Claridges as part of the documentary. This of course would mean that there would be a film crew on parts of the day. Claridges and all of it’s events staff where very accommodating to us all and made sure everyone was happy.
For a destination wedding, it was quite big in numbers as lots of friends and family attended the wedding to show their support. When i first met Bill in his room, we instantly connected, he is such a cool guy, i could call him a friend now. We started off just hanging around, chilling and seeing what would happen. His friends arrived one by one and created a great atmosphere, this was perfect for me. I just watched and created my version of events, with my artistic view of course. Once we finished with Bill, we made our way to the room Laura was getting ready in, this was a little more ‘active’. Story telling is what it is all about for me. I want to create stories and memories and not always in such the most obvious way either. Laura had her best friends and family with her helping her get ready. For me, this is the best part of any wedding. I love the transition from girl to bride and all of the emotions in between. Laura is also a beautiful girl both inside and out and photographing her was a dream….she is stunning. She has that eye for style and detail with her dress, her shoes, her hair and everything else being just perfect.
A few months before the wedding, the family received some shocking news which was big enough to stop the wedding altogether. The family made a decision to continue and the right decision was made. I know that Laura and Bill understand the power of the story and family and how important it is to not only look your best but also to celebrate family, life and love.
